Gujarat Day Celebrated by Siddhashram at the Heart of British Democracy: A Cultural Tribute to Unity, Heritage, and Community

In a vibrant tribute to cultural heritage and global harmony, the Gujarat Day Celebrations took place on Thursday, 1st May 2025, at the prestigious Boothroyd Room in Portcullis House, Westminster. The event was graciously hosted by Mr Gareth Thomas MP, Member of Parliament for Harrow West and Minister for Services, Small Business and Exports, in collaboration with the International Siddhashram Shakti Centre UK. Mr Bob Blackman MP, Member of Parliament for Harrow East, also graced the event. The celebrations were graced by the revered spiritual and community leader His Holiness Shri Rajrajeshwar Guruji, whose powerful presence and compassionate leadership continue to inspire countless individuals across the UK and beyond.

A Message of Spirituality, Safety, and Social Responsibility

Opening the event with a spiritual invocation, HH Shri Rajrajeshwar Guruji underlined the importance of commencing all celebrations with prayer, anchoring the community in peace, gratitude, and reflection. Guruji stressed that spiritual discipline and positive values are vital in nurturing harmonious societies, especially in a world where negativity often finds a voice.

In a stirring address, Guruji urged attendees to act as protectors of community harmony by reporting harmful behaviours and refusing to tolerate hatred or divisiveness. “Let us not remain silent in the face of negativity,” he proclaimed. “Whether it is a harmful act or a destructive ideology, it is our duty to take a stand—for the safety and well-being of all.”

He concluded with a call to collective action, encouraging all to support one another and to build a future rooted in mutual respect and spiritual strength.

Strengthening UK-Gujarat Relations: A Political Commitment

In his keynote address, Mr Gareth Thomas MP spoke passionately about the significance of Gujarat Day not only as a cultural observance but as a strategic moment in fostering stronger economic and diplomatic ties between the UK and Gujarat.

While acknowledging international issues such as the situation in Kashmir, Mr Thomas called for peaceful dialogue and mutual respect as essential foundations for international cooperation. “Today,” he said, “we celebrate not only the achievements of Gujaratis worldwide but also the enduring friendship between our two nations.”

A Voice for Cultural Pride and National Prosperity

Mr Bob Blackman MP, Member of Parliament for Harrow East, delivered heartfelt praise for the resilience, industriousness, and unity of the Gujarati diaspora in the United Kingdom. He recognised the community’s vital contributions to the UK economy, public services, and civic life.

In his address, he underscored the importance of preserving cultural identity while acknowledging the recent challenges faced by India. He commended community leaders for their role in promoting unity and spirituality, and emphasised the value of cultural exchange in strengthening bonds between diverse communities.

In her heartfelt remarks, Samani Ji Malay Pragyaji said, “We are here today because of Guruji. Although we initially could not attend, Guruji’s divine aura is so powerful that it drew us here on this auspicious occasion. Such innovative and creative community gatherings, delivered with profound messages, are possible only because of his inspiration. The significant turnout today is a testament to that.”

Spiritual offerings and presentations formed the soul of the event. Samani Malay Pragyaji and Samani Neeti Pragyajipresented the Navkar Mahamantra, a sacred Jain chant promoting global peace, non-violence, and spiritual harmony. Paramjit Singh Kohli followed with a serene Sikh prayer.

Yogi Priyavrat Animeshji introduced a meditation technique to the audience, offering practical insight into inner peace and mental clarity. His latest book, “The Air”, was inaugurated during the programme.

From the Netherlands, Mahendra Ramcharan and Priya Ramcharan unveiled a symbolic piece titled “The New Born”, adding artistic depth and a message of renewal to the occasion.

Distinguished speakers included Councillor Hitesh Karia, Councillor Geeta Karavadra, Mahendra Singh Jadeja, Pravin G. Patel, Prachi Mehta, and Kamya Jani, all of whom expressed their admiration for the unity and values promoted through the event.

Journalist Kamal Rao from Garavi Gujarat newspaper shared the inspiring legacy of the publication.

Special guests included members of various spiritual and cultural traditions, such as the Brahma Kumaris, Kabir Panthi Shailesh Ji Maharaj from Mehsana, Gujarat, and Councillor Devi Singh Patel. Representing the British Army, Warrant Officer Ashok Chauhan was also present, along with senior community members. Avinash Kamble, an officer from the Central Government of India, represented the state of Maharashtra, marking the global nature of the event.

Certificates of Excellence were awarded to Priya Ramcharanand Yogi Priyavrat Animeshji for their exemplary contributions to the field of spirituality and community engagement.

Mr Nileshbhai Parmar was specially honoured by Guruji and esteemed guests for his upcoming car expedition from the UK to Africa, undertaken to promote world peace and harmony. He had previously completed a remarkable journey by road from India to London, symbolising unity across nations and cultures.

Cultural performances by various dance groups brought vibrancy and joy to the occasion, reflecting India’s rich heritage. The event was ably compered by Chittal Shah.- Report by Mahesh Liloriya.
