Welwyn Hatfield: Coming together for interfaith harmony, unity, and diversity.

Thursday, November 13th, during the vibrant and meaningful observance of Interfaith Week, our community came together in a spirit of unity, understanding, and mutual respect to celebrate the rich diversity that defines our shared society. This special event was organised in collaboration with Welwyn Hatfield Interfaith, an organisation dedicated to fostering dialogue, harmony, and cooperation among various faith communities within the region. The occasion served not only as a platform to promote unity but also as an opportunity to recognize and honor the diverse religious and cultural traditions that contribute to the fabric of our community.
Representing the Sanatan Hindu community with great pride and reverence, HH Shri Rajrajeshwar Guruji delivered a heartfelt and inspiring message emphasizing the importance of compassion, tolerance, and mutual respect across different faiths. As a gesture of respect and solidarity, Guruji honored several distinguished individuals who have made significant contributions to fostering interfaith dialogue and community cohesion. Among these were Cllr Lynn Chesterman, the esteemed Mayor of Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council, who has been a prominent advocate for community engagement and inclusivity; Valerie Skottowe, Co-chair of Welwyn Hatfield Interfaith, recognised for her dedicated efforts in promoting interfaith understanding; and Frank Marsh, Co-chair of the Welwyn Hatfield interfaith group, known for his active participation and leadership in various community initiatives.

Additionally, Cannon Norbert Fernandes, Parish Priest, was acknowledged for his spiritual guidance and support in nurturing interfaith relationships within the local church community. Azmat Mughal, who represented the Naeem Foundation, a charity committed to social and community development, was also recognized for contributing to the broader efforts of promoting unity and supporting diverse groups within the region.
The event extended a special note of thanks to Cllr Pankit Shah and his dedicated team. Their unwavering support and tireless efforts played a crucial role in organizing and facilitating this successful gathering. Their commitment to fostering community harmony and encouraging dialogue among different faith groups greatly contributed to the event’s impactful outcomes.
