London Hosts Historic Gujarat Day Celebration Marking 1000 Years of Somnath Temple Legacy

London Celebrates a Milestone: Historic Gujarat Day Honoring a Millennium of the Somnath Temple’s Enduring Legacy.
London, 2 May 2026:
In a remarkable celebration blending heritage, spirituality, and global community unity, the International Siddhashram Shakti Centre UK, SANSKAR TV and Garavi Gujarat Publications UK, under the divine guidance of His Holiness Shri Rajrajeshwar Guruji, hosted a landmark event commemorating Gujarat Day alongside the 1000-year legacy of the sacred Somnath Temple — the First Jyotirlinga of Lord Shiva.

Held at Siddhashram’s Community Hub in Harrow, London, the event witnessed the presence of distinguished guests, including Lords, Members of Parliament, former Mayors, interfaith leaders, professionals, and prominent members of the Gujarati and wider Indian diaspora.
A Unique Spiritual Highlight – Rudraksh & Bhasma Distribution
The most defining and unique aspect of the celebration was the distribution of Sacred Rudraksh beads from Somnath and the holy Bhasma of Kashi Vishwanath Temple to all attendees.
Specially arranged by HH Shri Rajrajeshwar Guruji, this sacred offering symbolised a deep spiritual connection to India’s ancient traditions and commemorated the 1000-year resilience of Somnath Temple, marking the historic Somnath Swabhiman Parv.

Guruji’s Message – Unity, Sankalp & Spiritual Connection
In his powerful address, HH Shri Rajrajeshwar Guruji called upon the community to take a collective sankalp on Gujarat Day:
“Let us unite together—unity is our strength.”
He emphasised that the Rudraksh and Bhasma were not merely symbolic but a divine blessing connecting the global community to the spiritual energy of Somnath and Kashi, inspiring peace, strength, and cultural continuity across generations.
Distinguished Leadership Voices from the UK
The event was honoured by eminent dignitaries, including:
Lord Raval, who delivered the keynote address. A respected British parliamentarian of Gujarati origin, Lord Raval highlighted the importance of cultural identity, community unity, and the remarkable contribution of Gujaratis in the UK and globally.
Gareth Thomas MP, former Minister for Services, Small Businesses and Exports, praised the Indian diaspora’s contribution to British society and emphasised the strong cultural and economic ties between the UK and India.

Spiritual Climax – Shankh Naad

A Vision for Global Community Connection
Looking ahead, Guruji announced the launch of “Global Community Connect” on Sanskar TV, beginning 1 June, aimed at strengthening spiritual and cultural dialogue across the global Indian diaspora. This special weekly episode will be led by the International Siddhashram Shakti Centre to strengthen the community and culture.

A Celebration Beyond Borders
